Black West For:

Children's Programs

The Black American West Museum offers many different learning programs for all age levels!

Our premier program is a "Day in The Life" series where we introduce children to what it was like to be a Cowboy, Miner, Buffalo Soldier or Pioneer in the West. In this program your group learns the life, both the good and the bad, of these early Western Americans through dress, stories, song, history, artifacts and action. Many times if you schedule early enough we can have re-enactors or actual Black rodeo cowboys come out for your group and make the history even more real to your students or group.

In addition to the "Day in The Life" program we also offer other programs such as a scavenger hunt where your group searches through the Museum seeking out items based on photographs that are passed out beforehand. This is very popular among young children who usually enjoy finding and matching the photographs to the items in the Museum. We allow for different age groups by increasing the amount of writing and comprehension necessary to complete the hunt.
